Districlima contributes to the circular and sustainable economy of Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs

Recently a promoter questioned us about the "renewable" origin of energy from TERSA. Our response was that "renewable", "residual" or whatever you want to call it, the truth is that, with or without DISTRICLIMA, the waste will be there and there are only three possible scenarios in this regard: do not generate, bury or recover them. Zero waste is the ideal option, but as long as this does not happen, and being possibilist, the bet of DISTRICLIMA is the third one. On a personal level it is our responsibility to generate the minimum waste, reject those products with excessive use of packaging and plastics and, of course, recycle and reuse. At this point this should be obvious. Undoubtedly, the social function of waste recovery plants, still essential today. And our contribution in DISTRICLIMA is clear: we make the system more intelligent and efficient. While TERSA changed from 2017 to 2018 from 368,791 to 358,010 tons of treated waste (-3%), the steam supplied to DISTRICLIMA in the same period increased from 95,509 to 111,674 tons. (+ 17%), steam used to supply heating, DHW and air conditioning to more than 110 buildings.
