DISTRICLIMA consolidates as a reference to understand urban transformation
DISTRICLIMA has been demonstrating during the past years how the model of district heating & cooling networks is a perfectly applicable solution in the dense, compact and Mediterranean climate cities. The social, environmental and economic sustainability of the project, its public-private conception and the municipal impulse that has made it possible, are grounds for academic analysis by educational institutions and have been the subject of doctoral theses, as well as benchmarking by Many other cities around the world. The challenges of cities have a global dimension, which is their progressive need for digitization and the application of energy intelligence, which tends to take advantage of local resources and adapt to volatile needs linked to productivity.
During the month of February, Districlima has been the subject of several visits in these areas, highlighting the members of universities and the Administration of the Turkish region of Kocaeli, in a mission organized by the Barcelona City Council, or of the seminar and visit to the installations by the Urban Governance Winter School Barcelona, an initiative of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the Menéndez Pelayo International University, the École des Ponts ParisTech, the Círculo de Infraestructuras Foundation and the Official College of Civil Engineers of Roads, Canals and Ports .
