COFELY takes part in tecnical sessions at EXPOBIOENERGIA 2011
21 October 2011
Cofely participated in the Technical Sessions organized by ADHAC at Expobioenergía 2011, which took place in Valladolid on 18–20 October.
The event brought together 453 companies and brands from 24 countries, all of which presented their most cutting-edge innovations in the bioenergy sector.
The Director of Heating and Cooling Networks for Cofely España, Mr David Serrano, presented the fundamentals of District Heating & Cooling to an audience of over 50 people. He described its many benefits and the particularly important role these solutions can play in biomass-based projects. Heating and/or cooling networks that use biomass can facilitate the effective use of this type of fuel in smaller-scale applications not aimed solely at generating electricity. The networks also channel the benefits back into the immediate community. Several Spanish local governments have implemented this type of system, using it, for example, to manage nearby woodlands whilst simultaneously meeting the heating demands of municipal buildings.
David Serrano presented various macro-level energy indicators which highlight the need to work towards more efficient energy solutions independent of external markets in order to improve the competitiveness of Spanish business and create jobs.
