Districlima was set up in 2002 to implement, for the first time in Spain, an district heating and cooling network for use in heating, air conditioning and sanitary hot water.
The project is initially located in an urbanistic remodelled area of Barcelona that includes the Cultures Forum 2004 (Besòs seafront). The project encompasses the design, construction and later use, over a 25- year concession, of the Forum's production station and energy distribution network.
In 2005, after the awarding of a public tender, a second stage is started with the amplification of the network to the 22@ technology district. With a 27- year concession, the network will be extended in line with the area's urban development and new users' connection requirements. Founder partners:
