In 2010, DISTRICLIMA achieved an annual saving of 10,000 t of CO2

DISTRICLIMA's district heating and cooling network in Barcelona provided a saving of 10,100 t of CO2 emissions last year, representing a primary energy saving of 54,299 MW h PCI (55%).

 

During 2010, DISTRICLIMA supplied a total of 30,500 MW h of heat and 48,500 MW h of refrigeration, produced using most advanced technology together with local energy sources – the steam produced by the TERSA waste management plant and sea water – which would otherwise go to waste.

 

This year – once again and more than ever – the system's high level of efficiency has facilitated the alignment of Barcelona's sustainability and energy efficiency objectives with European-level commitments on the reduction of greenhouse gases.
